Those corn seedlings have matured. Corn is dioecious, meaning it has separate male and female flowers. The male flowers are at the top of the plant while the female flowers are the ears growing on the sides of the plant. Falling pollen from the male flowers are captured on the beards of the female flowers and travel up the beard to fertilise the ear. Each strand of beard that gets stuck to your teeth is a Fallopian tube. #urbanforaging #4b #vscocam
